Welcome To The
We are committed to working together to provide an enabling environment in which each child has the opportunity to become a happy, confident and independent learner.
Where each child is able to:
Feel safe and secure, valuing diversity and growing in self belief and respect for each other. Develop a love of learning and reach their true potential. Take part in a rich, creative and challenging environment. Become a valued member of a nursery community that encourages parent partnerships and the wider community.
We feel it is important for our staff to achieve their goals and we invest significantly by supporting their training and ongoing professional development.
The village nursery’s success to date can be attributed to the dedication of our staff and their leadership and this is proved in the excellent relationships they have with the children and their parents.
The Early Years Foundation Stage is the curriculum for all nurseries and pre-schools registered with Ofsted.
This curriculum not only sets the educational criteria for the learning and development of children up to the age of five years but also shapes the high standards of practice. Its central aim is to help young people achieve the ‘Every Child Matters’ outcomes:
Being Healthy. Enjoying and Achieving. Making positive contributions. Staying safe. Achieving economic well-being.
APPROPRIATE AND EFFECTIVE TEACHING AND LEARNING
We ensure that all children, including those with additional educational or medical needs, participate in a broad and balanced curriculum. We offer a wide range of learning opportunities through teaching by our qualified staff.
• Planned support and targets are delivered through high quality teaching which enables children with additional needs to make outstanding progress
• We understand that children learn in different ways. All our planning is differentiated to reflect the needs, interests and development levels of all children
• Children are afforded opportunities to take part in whole class sessions, small group sessions and 1:1 with an adult in order to work on specific targets.
• Depending on a child’s specific needs, we may need to adapt our environment and curriculum. We will seek specialist resources or equipment as necessary. Any details of such
changes will be clearly discussed with the children’s family.
All staff at The Village Nursery receive appropriate training to ensure they have the knowledge, skills and confidence to support children’s needs.
Each child has their own keyworker who will get to know your child exceptionally well. They will be able to explain what is being done to support your child’s individual needs and will help your child to learn and enjoy their time at our nursery. We welcome and encourage regular informal discussions with parents or care takers through our open-door policy and share all aspects of children’s well-being and development.
We monitor your child’s progress regularly and all parents or care takers will be invited to attend termly consultations in order to discuss their child’s progress and to provide feedback about their experience at our nursery. You will be involved in making plans and setting targets for your child’s learning. Depending on your child’s individual needs, we may need to access the support of other professionals. We will always seek your permission to do so and involve you in any discussions with the professionals regarding this targeted support.
